Earlier this year The Centre for Agroenvironmental Research “Enrico Avanzi” (CiRAA) of the University of Pisa organized the 7th edition of the Agroecology Day, focused on the environmental sustainability of agricultural systems.
During the event, discussions were held on agroecological biodiversity, particularly genetic and species diversity.
Experiments on wheat varieties for organic farming were presented, highlighting the benefits of intercropping and diversification at both the inter-specific and intra-specific levels, especially for weed control.
The approach emphasizes the importance of collaboration among institutions to enhance the sustainability of agricultural systems.
