The Drone day arranged by Agroväst as a joint activity between the projects Green Meetings, KLIV, Smart Agri and Oper8 was held at the Uddetorp High school for agriculture and animal husbandry outside Skara, Sweden.

About 40 attendants took part and we learnt about the somewhat complicated legislation for using drones for spraying purposes in EU.

Per-Anders Algerbo from RISE gave some data on how drones are used for spraying in other parts of the word. As an example, 150 000 drones are used for these purposes in China. In rice plantations they are very useful and the obvious reason is that it is difficult to reach paddies with ground-based vehicles.
Per-Anders stressed that we need to work together in EU on legislative issues.

Fredrik Tidström from Växtab, stressed that if the tramlines are avoided completely by using drones for field operations, yields can be increased substantially.

Greenfarmers and Spraydrone demonstrated their drones that have high capacity and can have as much as 50 L of liquids on board and they develop camera assisted spraying, so they are ready when legislation is in place.

The last talk by JU Information AB on detecting black grass using cameras on drones and AI was impressive: It is possible to identify almost all black grass plants at different development stages using drone captured imagery and AI.

Thanks to all participants that showed their interest with lots of questions to all speakers.
