NEW STRATEGIES FOR WEED CONTROL
The EU has an ambitious goal of reducing the use of pesticides in agriculture by 50% by 2030. There is therefore a need to review which methods could best help us get there. Reducing the use of herbicides is an important area, as they account for approx. 33% of the sales value of pesticides in the EU and more and more weeds are becoming resistant to herbicides. It is also difficult to develop herbicides with new mechanisms of action. Communicating, demonstrate and promoting alternative solutions for weed control is therefore important.
